"Massive blow for Eustace" and Derby's chance of survival after injury news

Derby County’s chances of Championship survival under John Eustace have taken a “blow” after an injury update to a “talented player”.

Derby and Eustace rock bottom of Championship with 11 games to go

The decision to part ways with Paul Warne and bring in Eustace is yet to have the desired effect, with the new Rams boss losing all three of his opening games in charge.

In fact, Derby are yet to score a goal under Eustace and now find themselves bottom of the Championship table with 11 games to go. The Rams are seven points away from safety and take on Eustace’s former side, Blackburn Rovers, next.

Derby also have to take on relegation rivals Plymouth Argyle, Luton Town, Hull City and Stoke City before the end of the campaign. It is shaping up to be a nail-biting end to the season at Pride Park, however, things haven’t been made easier for Eustace following a recent injury update.

Pundit reacts to “massive” injury blow for Derby and Eustace

One of Derby’s best-rated players this season has been David Ozoh, as per WhoScored, with the Crystal Palace loanee averaging a match rating of 6.99/10 in the second tier in his 33 appearances.

However, in his first appearance under Eustace against Millwall last month, Ozoh was injured late on and has now been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign with a thigh problem.

Talking to Football League World about the update, pundit Carlton Palmer described it as a “massive blow” for Derby in their aim to remain in the Championship, calling the midfielder a “talented player”.

“Massive blow for Derby County and John Eustace in their quest for survival. They are rock bottom of the Championship, four points from safety and now midfield player David Ozoh, who’s on loan from Crystal Palace, was carried off at Pride Park on a stretcher and he’s out for the rest of the season.

“It’s been a difficult time for him. He was making just his 10th appearance this season after being out of action for four months with hamstring, quad and muscle problems. It was also his first appearance under new head coach Eustace.

“It’s a huge blow losing a player and also Millwall then went on to score in the dying seconds, so it’s a huge blow for Derby. They’re on a really bad losing streak at the moment and Eustace will be desperate to turn that around as quickly as possible if they’ve got any hope of surviving.

“But losing such a talented player, it’s really disappointing and for the player as well. He’s worked his way back from so many injuries, and then to be out again for the rest of the season is a blow for him and Derby.”

High-profile Celtic hero would "love" to leave Parkhead for "bigger offer"

A high-profile figure at Celtic would “love” the idea of moving to another club in the near future, according to a new claim from former Everton CEO Keith Wyness.

Latest Celtic news

The Hoops sealed a superb 5-1 win at home to Aberdeen on Tuesday night, as they continue their unassailable march to yet another Scottish Premiership title.

Rangers have fizzled out throughout the campaign, not putting up much of a fight and sacking manager Phillipe Clement, and it feels like a matter of until Celtic are crowned champions, ahead of Saturday’s trip to St Mirren.

For Brendan Rodgers, this is a second successful spell in charge at Parkhead, winning the title in his first season back in the dugout, and looking to make it two in a row in May.

The Northern Irishman is highly thought of at Celtic, which is no surprise, given the success and quality of football he has brought to the club, but supporters will know that there is always the risk of losing him, as was the case when he joined Leicester City first time around.

High-profile Celtic ace backed for exit

Speaking to Football Insider, Wyness said that Rodgers would “love” to quit Celtic and leave for a bigger club such as Bayern Munich, casting doubt over his future.

“It’s always surprised me that he’s not come to the top. Everyone says he’s very bright, very hardworking and innovative. People in football have always had a high opinion of him, but that hasn’t matched his level of success. He was harshly treated at Liverpool and didn’t go on to great success elsewhere.

“He’s still got time and I think his next appointment could be the one. I think other clubs will be looking at him now. Clubs like Bayern Munich, who have fallen down the ladder a bit, could even look at someone like him. I think he’d love to move on from Celtic now if he gets a bigger offer.”

Celtic managerBrendanRodgerscelebrates after winning the League Cup

As mentioned, there may be a feeling that Celtic could lose Rodgers, considering he has managed Liverpool in the past and may always be keeping half an eye on a European giant coming calling again.

The 51-year-old has won three Scottish Premiership titles and Scottish Cups apiece, as well as four Scottish League Cups, so he is a proven winner, and it’s fair to say there are far less accomplished coaches scattered throughout Europe’s traditional ‘big five’ leagues.

There was unrest when Rodgers departed for Leicester, however, and the same could easily happen again if he departs in the near future, with supporters potentially feeling like he is merely treating the club as a stepping stone.

Celtic hit the jackpot with "class" £6m signing who's worth more than Maeda

Many of Ange Postecoglou’s signings at Celtic were major successes, sold on for huge profit, but one still at the club is earning rave reviews.

Feb 28, 2025

Whether Wyness proves to be correct remains to be seen, but once the current season reaches its conclusion, it will be interesting to see if Rodgers’ head is turned by possible interest from elsewhere. Hopefully, he will remain at Celtic for a long time, and in fairness, he seems happy currently, given the success coming his way.

Rossouw blitz puts Punjab Kings on brink of elimination

Despite Livingstone’s 94 off 48, Kings fall short in their chase of 214

A dazzling display of boundary hitting all around the ground from Rilee Rossouw in his unbeaten 82 off 37, combined with useful contributions from the other Delhi Capitals top-four batters, handed Punjab Kings a 15-run defeat and severely dented their playoff chances.Kings got close to the finish line in the end, thanks to a belligerent 94 off 48 from Liam Livingstone, but he fought a lone battle. The loss kept Kings on the eighth spot with 12 points. They now depend on many other results going their way to stay alive in the playoffs race because they have only one match to go, and three teams are already above 14 points, which is the most Kings can get to.Kings were mostly behind the asking rate right from the start because their only other batter who scored over 25 was Atharva Taide, who struggled for fluency and retired out on 55 off 42 balls. Livingstone’s pursuit of boundaries in the end kept Kings’ slim hopes alive, whether they needed 79 off 24 or 38 off 12. In the last over too, when they needed 23 from the last three balls, they got a lifeline when Ishant Sharma sent down a no-ball which Livingstone sent for six, making it 16 required from three with a free hit coming. But Livingstone failed to connect with the subsequent full toss and holed out to long-off on the last ball.Warner, Shaw flick the switch onIn the first IPL game in Dharamsala in ten years, David Warner and Prithvi Shaw saw out the first 16 balls for no boundaries before racing away. Warner broke the shackles with consecutive fours off Sam Curran before pulling Kagiso Rabada for two sixes. Shaw too got going when he saw Arshdeep Singh’s short balls didn’t have much pace. He pulled and glanced him for 4, 4 and 6 in a 16-run over. When Warner also put away Nathan Ellis’ slower balls for fours, Capitals ended the powerplay on 61 and soon brought up their highest opening stand of this IPL.Prithvi Shaw and David Warner got going gradually in the powerplay•BCCI

Rossouw’s fifty takes it up a notchRahul Chahar wasn’t having a good day. Soon after he was put away for three fours in his first two overs by Shaw, he dropped a tough chance to give Warner a life on 39. Warner continued to attack because Capitals had all ten wickets in hand at the halfway mark. But when he skied one more, Shikhar Dhawan completed a spectacular catch at mid-off to remove him for 46 off 31.Capitals kept the left-right combination by sending out Rossouw at No. 3, and he attacked literally from ball one. That he pulled his first ball for four and drove his third for four more showed how good the pitch was for batting. The range he showed in the 13th over off Rabada epitomised his innings; a length ball hit straight for six, another length ball placed just wide of short third for four, and yet another length ball dispatched over square leg with a lovely pick-up shot for six in a 17-run over. Not long after Rossouw also punished Chahar and Curran for sixes, Shaw holed out for 54 in the 15th over.Kings trust Brar for death oversRossouw had raced away to 45 off 21, and Capitals to 148, with five overs to go when Dhawan bravely brought on Harpreet Brar, who gave away just 14 runs in the 16th and 18th overs combined, before Phil Salt and Rossouw made up for it in the last two. Salt smoked Ellis for two sixes over long-on while also edging one delivery for four. For the final over, Dhawan once again trusted Brar instead of the designated death bowler Arshdeep, who had been expensive in his first two. Rossouw mercilessly muscled Brar, who also gifted two wides, for two sixes and a four on the leg side. A misfield on the last ball from Rabada at fine leg gave Capitals their first 200-plus total of the season.Liam Livingstone fought a lone battle•Associated Press

Kings also start slowThe Capitals quicks hardly gave any freebies early on. Khaleel Ahmed started with a maiden to Prabhsimran Singh, Ishant had Dhawan caught at slip for a duck, and Khaleel nearly bowled another maiden to keep Kings on 10 for 1 after three. Prabhsimran then hit the pedal with three consecutive fours before Taide also collected boundaries to get out of the hole of 1 off eight balls. Prabhsimran and Taide also enjoyed a fair share of luck. Their leading edges fell safe, and Capitals missed a few direct hits. Taide’s edges even fetched him some boundaries. Kings finished the powerplay on 47 for 1, with the asking rate almost 12 an over.Livingstone stands tall but aloneAs soon as Prabhsimran holed out to long-on off Axar Patel, it was all a Livingstone show. It started with Livingstone getting a life on 3 off Kuldeep Yadav when Anrich Nortje put him down at deep midwicket, and Taide too got dropped off Kuldeep in his next over. Taide, however, could not score freely as he struggled to find the gaps or go over the fielders.Livingstone, meanwhile, made use of his big bat swings for plenty of hits in the ‘V’ down the ground when the bowlers missed their lengths even marginally. He hit a boundary nearly every over and was only beaten by Kuldeep a couple of times. In the 15th over, he dispatched two full tosses from Mukesh Kumar for fours but Taide was labouring at the other end and he retired out when Kings needed a stiff 86 from 30 with their hitters Jitesh Sharma, Shahrukh Khan and Curran yet to come.Despite the firepower in the dugout, the heavy lifting was left for Livingstone. Jitesh holed out to long leg for a duck in the 16th and Shahrukh found long-on in the 17th. Meanwhile, Livingstone blasted two sixes and a four off Khaleel, and three sixes came off Mukesh in the 18th to make it 38 required from 12. Nortje then rattled Curran’s leg stump with a yorker and when 33 were left from the last six balls, Ishant started with a dot to all but seal it. His no-ball was thwarted for six, but he finished the game with three dots and send Kings’ hopes crashing.

The tournament will begin on August 30, with the final in Trinidad and Tobago on September 10

The 2023 edition of the Women’s CPL will feature seven matches, as opposed to four in the inaugural season last year. The league will host will get underway on August 30, with the final taking place on September 10 in Trinidad and Tobago. As was the case last year, the sides taking part are Trinbago Knight Riders, Barbados Royals and Guyana Amazon Warriors. Barbados will serve as the other venue for the tournament. In 2022, each side played one group game, before TKR, led by Deandra Dottin, beat Barbados Royals, who were captained by current West Indies skipper Hayley Matthews, in the final in St Kitts. This time around, the group stage will feature a double round-robin format, with the top two qualifying for the final.”We are hugely excited to have an expanded WCPL schedule for 2023 and we are grateful to the government of Trinidad & Tobago for their support in helping to grow the tournament in 2023,” Pete Russell, the CPL CEO, said.Minister of Sport and Community Development Shamfa Cudjoe said: “Once again, the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is pleased to partner with the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) as we get ready to host the final match of the 2023 Women’s CPL. The hosting of this game comes at an opportune time as it strategically aligns with the goal of the Ministry’s ongoing Pink Reign TT campaign, which speaks to promoting women and girls in sport.”The scheduling of the WCPL means the tournament avoids a clash with the Women’s Hundred this year, with that competition running from August 1 to 27. It allows Matthews and Dottin to be available for the entirety of the Hundred before the WCPL starts, and frees other players signed up to both tournaments to play each in full. There was a significant overlap last year, with the final of the Women’s Hundred on September 3 and the WCPL final the following day.Sune Luus, Chloe Tryon, Ayabonga Khaka, Chamari Athapaththu, Hayley Jensen and Fatima Sana were the overseas players at the 2022 WCPL.

-Outro confronto, completamente diferente. A preparação começou no dia seguinte à vitória.

Confira outras respostas do técnico Dorival Júnior, do Flamengo:

Mérito do trabalho é a simplicidade?

Todos jogos têm sido assim, independente do time.

Not just Hojlund: Man Utd star must be axed after 5/10 international howler

There are signs that Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United project may yet take off.

The summer transfer window will be crucial. How the Red Devils navigate the market months will no doubt hold sway when it comes to the narrative in 2025/26. Will United turn a corner, or loop back to weary road’s already travelled?

Manchester United manager RubenAmorimlooks dejected at half time

Let’s dig into the most noticeable potential departure. Rasmus Hojlund has had a tough time this season, but there’s evidence that he should indeed be sold.

Man United's biggest winner from the international break

Hojlund scored the only goal as Denmark beat Portugal in the opening leg of their Nations League quarter-final tie in Copenhagen on Thursday night.

His reaction fanned the flames of social media discourse, having copied Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘siu’ celebration.

CR7 got the last laugh, as he so often has throughout his incredible career. Portugal defeated the Danes 5-2 (5-3 on aggregate) to advance to the penultimate stage, with 40-year-old Ronaldo notching his 135th goal for his nation.

It served as a reality check for Hojlund, 22, who was well-marshalled after scoring on Thursday. Indeed, he managed to strike on goal once but lost five of eight contested duels, as per Sofascore, failed with both his dribble attempts and failed to impose himself on the game.

Rasmus Hojlund for Denmark

Such has been the story of his season. Manchester United’s striker, who joined from Atalanta in a deal worth £72m in 2023, has regressed hugely this term, scoring just three goals across 24 Premier League matches.

Fabrizio Romano has already confirmed there appears to be tentative interest from Italian clubs and that the expectation is the number nine will be sold.

However, he’s not the only one, with another United member flattering to deceive on the same pitch as Hojlund on Sunday evening. He needs to be sold.

Man United's biggest loser from the international break

No, we’re not talking about Bruno Fernandes; the Portugal star is the linchpin of Amorim’s project, posting 12 goals and eight assists across 27 matches.

Bruno Fernandes celebrates for Manchester United

We are, however, drawing attention to Diogo Dalot, who wasn’t great against Denmark in both legs and may well follow Hojlund out the door this summer.

Journalist Alex Crook commented earlier this month that Dalot, 26, has “regressed” this season, lacking the completeness that United need at right wing-back. With just 22 goal involvements across 202 Man United appearances, he doesn’t have the attacking consistency Amorim would expect either.

Pencilling down their post-match thoughts after Monday’s win, Portuguese outlet Portugoal handed Dalot a rather flat 5/10 rating, writing: ‘Dalot is not a game-breaker – no shots, no key passes, no completed dribbles, and no surprise if and when Cancelo returns to the starting XI in June.’

Indeed, one careless throw-in after the interval nearly led to a damaging Denmark goal, something which may well have swung the pendulum away from the Iberian nation.

It typifies Dalot’s issues. He’s not sharp enough on the ball, creating little despite squandering possession regularly.

Further, the 26-year-old isn’t strong enough in the duel and doesn’t carry the ball as well as he could.

Man United need to strive for greatness, and selling Dalot will be part of the slow but steady solution.

Najmul Hossain Shanto's attacking 146 highlights Bangladesh's dominance

He added 212 for the second wicket with Mahmudul Hasan Joy, as Afghanistan paid for too many no-balls and wides

Mohammad Isam14-Jun-2023Stumps Bangladesh 362 for 5 (Mehidy 43*, Mushfiqur 41*, Masood 2-67) vs AfghanistanNajmul Hossain Shanto’s attacking 146 – his first Test century at home – gave Bangladesh a high-scoring opening day in the one-off Test against Afghanistan in Dhaka. Shanto made 146, his third century overall – and the first since 2021 – as the hosts reached 362 for 5 at stumps. The total was Bangladesh’s second-highest score on the first day of a Test, only behind the 374 they put against Sri Lanka in Chattogram in 2018.At stumps, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were unbeaten on 41 and 43, respectively, after Bangladesh had lost 3 for 34 in a mini middle-order collapse from 256 for 2. That came after Shanto and Mahmudul Hasan Joy had added 212 for the second wicket, Bangladesh’s only third 200-plus second-wicket stand. Incidentally, Shanto had been involved in their last four 100-plus partnerships for this wicket too.On Wednesday, Mahmudul complemented him with a steady 76 of his own, although his innings was cut short due to a lapse of concentration against part-timer Rahmat Shah. That broke his partnership with Shanto in what would turn out to be a forgettable day for Afghanistan, who bowled 15 no-balls – one of which saw Shanto getting bowled on 143 – and seven wides on the day, apart from often misfielding and overthrowing. The heat also played a part, as only 79 overs were bowled in the day.Shanto had started the third session just like he had started the previous one – with boundaries. He swatted two bouncers from debutant Nijat Masood for a four and a six in the 51st over, but two overs later, the bowler retorted with Mominul Haque’s wicket. Come the 55th over, Masood had Shanto chopping on to his stumps, before the delivery turned out to be a no-ball.But luckily for Afghanistan, Shanto could add only three more to his score, with Amir Hamza having him caught at deep midwicket. Shanto’s innings of 146 took only 175 balls, and included 23 fours and two sixes. The day ended with Mushfiqur and Mehidy’s partnership unbeaten on 72, although Bangladesh’s dominance had began once Shanto was at the crease in the second over of the innings.Nijat Masood struck with his first ball in Test cricket•AFP/Getty ImagesMasood had taken a wicket with his first ball in his Test career when Zakir Hasan was undone by a ball which jagged away sharply, taking the outside edge on the way to wicketkeeper Afsar Zazai. Thus, Masood became the seventh bowler in the 21st century to strike first ball in Tests, and the first from Afghanistan to do so.However, Shanto attacked with a plethora of boundaries in the first hour itself. He hardly gave fast bowlers Masood and Yamin Ahmadzai any room to relax, even as left-arm wristspinner Zahir Khan was welcomed with three fours in his first spell. An enterprising Shanto reached his fifty in the first session, while Mahmudul held up one end.Shanto accelerated further in the post-lunch session, reaching his third century with another flurry of boundaries. After hitting 11 fours in the morning, Shanto began the second session with three fours in the same over off Masood. He struck him through the covers twice, and pulled him once. Two more fours off Hamza in the next over was followed by driving Karim Janat down the ground.Meanwhile, Mahmudul reached his fifty in the 35th over, shortly before Shanto got to his hundred, benefitting from the five runs resulting due to an overthrow. Three overs later, Shanto reached his century with a quick single.Shanto’s innings saw most of the boundaries coming down the ground, crashing nine fours through cover and mid-off. Seven of his fours came through midwicket, while both his sixes were hit over square leg. His heavy scoring on the leg side had much to do with how poorly Afghanistan bowled to him.Mahmudul struck the ball to his preferred areas of covers and midwicket. He fell before the tea break to Rahmat, as Ibrahim Zadran took a stunner at slip.

The largest sports stadiums in the world as Man Utd plan 100k-seater arena

Manchester United have recently announced plans for a brand-new 100,000-seater stadium to replace their long-time home of Old Trafford.

Already the largest club stadium in England, the Theatre of Dreams has been United’s home since 1910, but their 115-year stay looks set to come to an end within five years, should construction of their new ground go to plan.

United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe hailed the new plans, as he aims to oversee the creation of the “most iconic football stadium in the world”.

He said (via BBC Sport): “Today marks the start of an incredibly exciting journey to the delivery of what will be the world’s greatest stadium.

“Our current stadium has served us brilliantly for the past 115 years, but it has fallen behind the arenas in world sport.

“I think we may well finish up with the most iconic football stadium in the world.”

The initial images (which can be seen here), certainly suggest it will make for memorable viewing, though perhaps the proof will be in the pudding when it comes to its future legacy among sports stadiums.

It would become the UK’s largest football arena, but where would it rank across the sporting world? Here is a list of the biggest sports stadiums by seated capacity, with one sport dominating.

6 of the worst things Sir Jim Ratcliffe has done at Man Utd

Ratcliffe has been ruling with an iron fist.

ByBarney Lane Feb 26, 2025 12 Melbourne Cricket Ground (cricket) Capacity: 100,024

One of the oldest stadiums still in use today, the MCG has hosted several sports since opening in the mid-19th century.

Currently home to six Australian Football League teams and several cricket sides including Australia’s cricket teams, it also hosts international football for the country’s men’s and women’s sides.

Seating just over 100,000 when full, it has hosted many international events in its long history, including the Summer Olympics in 1956, and will host an NFL match featuring the Los Angeles Rams next year.

11 Bryant-Denny Stadium (American football) Capacity: 100,077

Holding slightly more than the MCG is Alabama Crimson Tide’s Bryant-Denny Stadium, which has hosted college-level American football since 1929.

College American football stadiums are among the largest in the United States – 8 of the 12 largest arenas in the sporting world are college stadiums.

The largest NFL stadium is currently the MetLife Stadium – home to the New York Giants and New York Jets – which will host the 2026 World Cup final with a capacity of 82,500.

Every newly built Premier League stadium – ranked

The Premier League has seen plenty of new grounds since its formation in 1992.

ByBarney Lane Mar 6, 2025 10 Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium (American football) Capacity: 100,119

Home to the NCAA’s Texas Longhorns, their 100k-plus-seater stadium is the second-largest in Texas.

The Texas Longhorns have played there since 1924, when capacity was quickly raised to 40,000, before multiple renovations have led to it becoming one of the largest sports stadiums in the world.

Despite its capacity, an attendance of over 105,000 was recorded in October 2024.

9 Neyland Stadium (American football) Capacity: 101,915

The Tennessee Volunteers’ Neyland Stadium hosts close to 102,000, and has been their home for over 100 years.

The stadium is arguably the best ‘fortress’ in the sport, with no college football team winning more often at their current home ground.

Its record attendance was set in 2004, when a match against rivals Florida Gators drew in just over 109,000 spectators.

8 Tiger Stadium (American football) Capacity: 102,321

Louisiana’s largest football stadium is home to the LSU Tigers, with the Tiger Stadium hosting their games for little over a century.

Famed for its atmosphere on matchday, the Tiger Stadium has sold out several times since its most recent expansion took its capacity into six figures, proving the appetite for college football in Louisiana in case it was ever needed.

7 Kyle Field (American football) Capacity: 102,733

Texas’ largest stadium is Texas A&M University’s Kyle Field, which can host nearly enough supporters to fill Newcastle United’s St James Park twice over.

As much as 110,000 people have flocked to Kyle Field for sport and music concerts, with attendance records breaking multiple times last year.

With a population of over 31 million alone, Texas certainly has plenty of large arenas fit for its football fanatics.

6 Ohio Stadium (American football) Capacity: 102,780

Situated in the state capital of Columbus, the Ohio State Buckeyes’ Ohio Stadium is marginally ahead as America’s third-largest sports stadium.

There is a football (soccer) connection to this stadium, as Major League Soccer franchise Columbus Crew played their first games here until 1998, when they moved into their own home.

Their opening match only drew in around 25,000 spectators – not bad for the brand new football league, but this would have left vast amounts of empty seats in a stadium which could hold about 90,000 at the time.

Ranking the best former Premier League stadiums

With a new age of football stadia emerging since the Premier League’s beginnings in the 1990s, we have said goodbye to some truly magical venues.

ByBarney Lane Mar 6, 2025 5 Camp Nou (football) Expected capacity: 105,000

We’re cheating slightly to include the soon-to-be renovated Camp Nou in Barcelona, which is set to become football’s largest club stadium.

Already close to 100,000 seats before work started on upgrading the ground in the summer of 2023, the work on Camp Nou is set to modernise the stadium, with the team set to return next season.

It was hoped that Barcelona could play at Camp Nou before the 2024/25 campaign finishes, but it looks as though their temporary home in Montjuic will remain so at least until the end of the season.

This means Manchester United won’t be able to claim as having Europe’s biggest football stadium once their new ground is completed.

The Top 11 El Clásico Goalscorers This Century

Who has scored the most often in El Clásico since 2000?

1 ByBarney Lane May 10, 2025 4 Beaver Stadium (American football) Capacity: 107,282

Home to the Penn State Littany Lions, Beaver Stadium is the second-largest American football stadium in the United States.

The ground is named after James A. Beaver, a Pennsylvanian governor who was on the university’s board in the late 1800s.

Moving there in 1960, Penn State broke attendance records in November 2024, though they left many of the 111,000 supporters frustrated by losing to rivals Ohio State.

3 Michigan Stadium (American football) Capacity: 107,601

North America’s largest sports stadium, the Michigan Stadium is home to the Michigan Wolverines, who hold the record for the most wins in college football.

It is therefore quite fitting they have the largest stadium, even if by only a few hundred seats or so. Since opening in 1927, the ground has also played host to hockey and lacrosse.

European football clubs have occasionally played pre-season friendlies at Michigan Stadium, with over 109,000 watching Manchester United take on Real Madrid in August 2014.
