أعلن الاتحاد الكويتي لكرة القدم عن استياءه بسبب سوء التنظيم في مراسم حفل افتتاح كأس خليجي 25 وما نتج عنه من تدافع من الجماهير وازدحام شديد أدى إلى تعذر دخول الشيخ نواف الأحمد الجابر الصباح أمير الكويت.

ونوه الاتحاد الكويتي أنه نظرا لما حدث وتضامنا مع ممثل سمو أمير البلاد، فقد انسحب بدوره، رئيس الاتحاد الكويتي لكرة القدم والوفد المرافق له، من مراسم حفل الافتتاح، وأبلغ نظيره العراقي والمسؤولين على التنظيم باحتجاج الاتحاد الكويتي على تلك الأمور التنظيمية.

وذكر بيان الاتحاد الكويتي: “حفاظا على مكانة وأهمية البطولة، ودعما مننا للأخوة الاشقاء، فإن منتخب الكويت لكرة القدم سيستمر في المشاركة في فعاليات البطولة، مع تأكيدات الجانب العراقي بتوافر كافة وسائل الأمن والسلامة التي تتطلبها استمرار المشاركة”.

وأكمل: “سيتابع رئيس الاتحاد الكويتي لكرة القدم والوفد المرافق له؛ أمور المنتخب الوطني للتأكد من عدم تأثر اللاعبين بأي من تلك الأحداث، والتأكد من أمن وسلامة البعثة”.

واختتم: “نريد أن نطمئن الجماهير الكويتية على سلامة اللاعبين وجميع أعضاء الوفد الكويتي المتواجد حاليا في مدينة البصرة، وندعو الجماهير مواصلة الدعم والمساندة لمنتخبنا في البطولة، مع كل الأمنيات بالسلامة للجميع”.

يذكر أن حفل افتتاح كأس الخليج العربي فى نسخته رقم 25 بمدينة البصرة العراقية، ظهر بشكل رائع ونال استحسان الجماهير الخليجية وتقام البطولة اعتباراً من اليوم 6 يناير وحتى يوم 19 من الشهر ذاته.

Shane Watson is best suited to setting a speedy agenda at the top of the Test batting order rather than plugging gaps further down, the national selector Greg Chappell has said.Since becoming vice-captain under the team’s new leader Michael Clarke, Watson has pondered his ideal place within the XI, and has given ground to the possibility of moving down the order if it would help solidify a batting unit prone to collapse. Such a move would also allow Watson the chance to bowl a little more, and perhaps escape a pattern of being dismissed between 50 and 100.However Chappell was adamant that Watson should remain an opening batsman, to be partnered in Sri Lanka by either Simon Katich or Phil Hughes, as his ability to score runs quickly at the outset of an innings was a priceless asset.”I think at this stage we’re pretty happy with him opening,” Chappell told . “The beauty with Shane is that when he gets runs he tends to get them at a good strike rate. If you’ve got someone who makes runs at that sort of strike rate at the top of the order a la Matthew Hayden, it can make a very big difference.”If we get to the point where there’s others who we think might do the job it will come up in discussion, but the issue is if you take him out of that role and whoever replaces him doesn’t do it as well and he doesn’t do as well somewhere else, it’s not a straightforward exercise. Uncertainty continues to surround Rashid Latif’s position as Afghanistan coach, after an Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) official said his contract would not be renewed. Latif, however, says he has not been contacted yet about any decision.Following the 3-0 series defeat to Pakistan ‘A’ last month Latif had said he was disappointed with the attitude and effort put in by some of the players, who he believed did not perform to the best of their abilities because they wanted to see former coach Kabir Khan back in the post.Now, according to a report in the Pakistan newspaper the ACB has decided against renewing Latif’s contract. “We believe he has failed to fulfill our expectations and that has prompted us to look at other options,” ACB chief executive Naseemullah Danish told the newspaper. “We all respect Latif, but the recent drubbing at the hands of Pakistan A forced us to ponder over our future. We need someone who is mentally tough and does not make lame excuses for defeats.”I can tell you that we have received the CVs from England and one of them is a big name with a ten years coaching experience in county cricket, and he is likely to be appointed as our batting coach.”Latif told ESPNcricinfo, however, that his contract was currently valid until the end of next month. “I have not been contacted about this. تحدث البرتغالي جايمي باتشيكو المدير الفني لنادي بيراميدز، عن فوز فريقه على الزمالك والتأهل إلى المباراة النهائية لكأس مصر.

بيراميدز انتصر على الزمالك بركلات الترجيح 4-3، بعد انتهاء المباراة بالتعادل الإيجابي بهدف لكل فريق في اللقاء الذي جمع الفريقين بنصف نهائي كأس مصر.

وقل باتشيكو خلال تصريحات في المؤتمر الصحفي بعد المباراة: “كانت لدينا رؤية في تغيير عبد الله السعيد، الزمالك كان دائمًا يتقدم في أول الدقائق”.
