‘Everton have a made a move to re-sign’ Idrissa Gueye from Paris Saint-Germain but a deal is looking ‘unlikely’, according to The Athletic’s Simon Johnson. 

The lowdown

Everton have made three signings so far in January, striking permanent deals for full-backs Vitaliy Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson and bringing in winger Anwar El-Ghazi on loan.

Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek is set to become their fourth winter coup, with the Dutchman undergoing a medical on Monday morning, but it seems the appointment of Frank Lampard as manager could yet be greeted with more than one addition.

Gueye spent three years (2016-2019) at Everton before a £30m switch to the Ligue 1 outfit.

The latest

Johnson took to Twitter on Monday morning to reveal that Everton have launched a late offensive to try and bring the Senegal midfielder back to Goodison Park, although it remains up in the air whether or not their efforts will be successful.

He tweeted: “It’s true that Everton have made a move to re-sign their former midfielder Idrissa Gueye from PSG. But was told last night that it was unlikely to happen. Things can always change though on deadline day.”

The verdict

Gueye appears to be an important part of PSG’s squad, so you can understand if they’re reluctant to let their £11.7m-rated asset leave. He has started the majority of their Ligue 1 matches so far this season, along with five of their six Champions League group games.

However, the 32-year-old has less than 18 months left on his £99,000-per-week contract, and that may factor into the Parisians’ thinking.

It’s worth noting that Gueye is currently preparing for an Africa Cup of Nations semi-final with Senegal, and that could make a deadline day move more difficult, despite Everton’s best efforts for a last-gasp coup.

Os catalães pagarão, à vista, 11,8 milhões de euros (R$ 45,6 milhões) por 100% dos direitos econômicos do zagueiro colombiano e mais 590 mil euros de taxa do mecanismo de solidariedade – equivalentes a 5% do valor da venda. O valor total da transação, portanto, é de 12,3 milhões de euros (R$ 47,6 milhões). É a maior negociação de um zagueiro na história do futebol brasileiro.

O Palmeiras, dono de 80% dos direitos, ficará com 10 milhões de euros (R$ 38,7 milhões) e mais uma fatia da taxa de clube formador. O Santa Fe (COL), dono de 20% dos direitos econômicos, ficará com 1,8 milhão de euros e também terá uma fatia do mecanismo de solidariedade – assim como o Deportivo Pasto (COL).

Por um acordo entre as partes,o Verdão ficará com um pouco mais do que 80% do valor total da transferência. Teoricamente, o clube ficaria com R$ 36,4 milhões.

Explica-se: no contrato de Mina com o Palmeiras, estava previsto que o Barcelona pagaria 9 milhões de euros para levá-lo após a Copa do Mundo. Os 20% que ficarão com o Santa Fe foram calculados com base neste valor, e não no valor final da transação.

Quem bancou a contratação de Mina, em 2016, foi Paulo Nobre. O Palmeiras, então, precisa devolver a ele o dinheiro investido (R$ 11,7 milhões) com uma pequena correção.

À espera do desfecho da negociação, Yerry Mina não está participando da pré-temporada do Palmeiras. Ele aguarda que a venda esteja documentada para viajar até a Espanha e se apresentar ao novo clube.

Em um ano e meio de Palmeiras, Mina foi campeão brasileiro, somou 49 jogos e fez nove gols.

Ciaran Kelly has now revealed that Eddie Howe has been taking a closer look at Newcastle United youngster Michael Ndiweni.

The Lowdown: No additional striker

While the St. James’ Park faithful managed to bring in Chris Wood from Burnley in the January transfer window, following the injury suffered by Callum Wilson, they failed in a deadline day move for Reims striker Hugo Ekitike.

With the window now closed, Howe will have to use other resources to increase his options up top, and that may mean digging into the academy instead of looking at free agents or emergency loans.

The Latest: Ndiweni eyed

As per The Chronicle journalist Kelly, Howe is now taking a close look at Academy attacker Ndiweni:

“Nufc were unable to sign an additional striker alongside Chris Wood last month, but Eddie Howe has taken a closer look at Michael Ndiweni, who has been in lethal form for the under-18s. Great to see.”

The Verdict: Give him a chance!

Ndiweni has not made a senior appearance yet for the North East club, but the 18-year-old has been flying at youth level.

He has scored no fewer than 18 goals in 31 games in total over all competitions across the last three seasons, including 12 in 13 this term (Transfermarkt), and given Wilson’s injury, he will feel that he can at least make the bench in the next senior match-day squad.

Nonetheless, the Toon Army will want to see academy lads given a chance, and Ndiweni is certainly someone who can grow with senior players around him.

تأتي تلك الخطوة بعد الدعوات المتزايدة فرض عقوبات أكثر صرامة على المدربين الذين يظهرون سلوكيات تهديدية تجاه حكام المباريات، حيث يعتبر الكثيرون هذه قضية رئيسية في اللعبة الحديثة.

وأيد الحكم السابق في الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز بيتر والتون هذا الرأي ودعا الشهر الماضي إلى اتخاذ إجراء ضد كلوب.

وقال لصحيفة “تايمز” الإنجليزية: “حصل يورجن كلوب على بطاقة حمراء مستحقة لإساءة معاملته للحكم المساعد غاري بيسويك خلال مباراة ليفربول ضد مانشستر سيتي يوم الأحد وقد اعتذر عن سلوكه، لكن هذا لا يكفي، يجب أن يعاقب بشكل صحيح”.

وأضاف: “ماذا يجب أن تكون هذه العقوبة؟ لست مقتنعًا بأن الغرامة سيكون لها أي تأثير على سلوك كلوب في المستقبل – أو سلوك المدربين الآخرين – لذلك أعتقد أن المدربين الذين يسيئون إلى المسؤولين كما فعل كلوب يجب أن يحصلوا على حظر على خط التماس لثلاث مباريات، وهو نفس العدد من المباريات التي قد يحصل عليها اللاعب بسبب اللعب السئ الخطير”.

England needed three runs and Australia wanted one wicket from the 50th over, but Ponting could not turn to Tait, Bollinger or Ryan Harris. Would he trust Steven Smith, who had bowled well and collected two wickets, and hope the tailenders miscued trying for the winning runs? Or would he opt for the more tried and tested James Hopes? Ponting went for Hopes, Tim Bresnan got a thick edge for four from the first ball of the over, and that was that.Surprise of the day
There were pessimistic rumblings that the spectators at Old Trafford would leave the ground in droves when England’s World Cup match against Germany kicked off at 3pm. Even Andrew Strauss’s decision to send Australia in was greeted with light-hearted cynicism: did he just want his boys to be in the dressing room to watch the football later in the day? In fact, very few people – a couple of hundred at most – left the ground, although many had headphones on to hear the commentary from Bloemfontein. Andrew Flintoff was on hand to cut the ribbon and open the venue, which also provided a handy balcony from which to view the cricket. The absence of key bowlers has been one of Australia’s problems, though not as much as their batting, in this series, so it was interesting to note that Mitchell Johnson has now joined the touring party. Johnson was ruled out of the one-dayers with an infection in his right elbow, which was not strapped as he donned a baseball glove and played backstop for the fast bowlers as they warmed up on the field during the innings break. Don’t expect a miracle comeback from Johnson during the ODIs though; he’s much more likely to make his return for the Twenty20s against Pakistan.
