علّق روبرت ليفاندوفسكي مهاجم فريق بايرن ميونخ على فوز نظيره ليونيل ميسي بجائزة الكرة الذهبية لأفضل لاعب في العالم 2021.

وكانت مجلة “فرانس فوتبول” قد أقامت مساء أمس الإثنين حفل ضخم في العاصمة الفرنسية باريس للإعلان عن جوائز العام الحالي.

وفاز ليونيل ميسي بجائزة الكرة الذهبية وهي السابعة في تاريخه، وجاء ليفاندوفسكي في المركز الثاني.

وكتب ليفاندوفسكي عبر حسابه الشخصي بموقع “تويتر”: “مبروك لـ ليونيل ميسي وأليكسيا بتيلاس، الفائزين بجوائز الكرة الذهبية لعام 2021”.

وأضاف البولندي: “تهانينا أيضًا لجميع اللاعبين المرشحين، لقد فزت بجائزة مهاجم العام ولا يمكن لأي لاعب أن يفوز بجائزة فردية بدون أقوى فريق ومشجعين مخلصين وراءه، شكرًا لدعمكم”.

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has endured quite the defensive injury crisis this season.

Currently, the Yorkshire giants have no senior central defender available for selection, which is partly why we have seen Spurs score three, Manchester United score six. Even goal-shy Newcastle United find the net twice against them in recent encounters.

It’s led to the Argentine having to shift right-back Luke Ayling into the middle, and then subsequently having to force square pegs to fit round holes.

This is especially the case for the other full-back spot as technically, following the departure of Barry Douglas, the Whites do not have a proper left-back.

Bielsa has turned to Gjanni Alioski in these times, a winger by trade, though he should probably reconsider – don’t let that strike against West Brom fool you, he’s been holding Leeds back lately.

In terms of average rating for the season, the Macedonian livewire ranks as the worst player (6.61) of anyone who has started nine or more matches, per WhoScored.

Against Spurs and United, the 28-year-old failed to manage higher than a 5.63 rating too.

In the last two matches alone, Alioski has also committed five fouls and has delivered only one cross in his last four outings, via WhoScored.

Only Mateusz Klich manages more fouls per game than the long-serving winger, so clearly, there is work to be done here defensively.

Beren Cross at LeedsLive wrote similarly in a column this week. He said: “Steven Bergwijn and Son Heung-min had their way with Alioski. He did not seem able to stick with them or read their movements, which can be fatal at this level.”

Indeed, Bielsa cannot afford to continue risking Alioski in defence – it is no wonder that he’s been dubbed a “liability” by respected former player Noel Whelan in the past too, he told Football Insider:

“His defending at time is very lacking in quality, he can be a liability.  It’s a big worry for Leeds if he doesn’t learn from his mistakes.”

It’s time for the £55k-per-week enigma to sit a few matches out unless there is a place for him further up the field. It’s a ruthless but necessary call to make.

Jamie Shackleton’s emergence could allow Stuart Dallas to return to his left-back position and there can surely be no harm in giving Leif Davis a runout either.

All are more viable defensive options in the role than Alioksi. Only the Baggies have leaked more goals than United this term. That issue has to be fixed.

A Federação de Futebol do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (Ferj) encontrou uma solução para equacionar as suas dívidas com a União. Segundo o ESPN.com, a entidade vai aderir ao Profut para refinanciar seus débitos. No entanto, terá que se enquadra no que manda a lei, inclusive fazer mudanças em sua gestão.

De acordo com a publicação, a Ferj tem uma dívida que ultrapassa os R$ 18 milhões em impostos federais. Com o Profut, ela teria o benefício de parcelar o valor em 20 anos.

Porém, para se submeter à lei, a federação carioca precisará mudar algumas coisas, como ter limites de mandatos. O texto diz que só é permitido uma reeleição e para se ter uma ideia, o presidente da entidade, Rubens Lopes, está no comando há mais de dez anos.

Além disso, entre as medidas que a Ferj terá que adotar estão que funcionários não poderão empregar parentes, também estão proibidos de contratar empresas cujos sócios tenham parentesco com membros da federação, seguir regras de transparência, entre outras.

O portal procurou a Ferj para saber quando pretendia se adequar às regras da lei. Porém, preferiu não se manifestar.

Mike Ashley must sanction a Newcastle United deal to sign Spezia Calcio striker M’Bala Nzola amid rival interest from West Ham and AC Milan.

According to Club Dorla 46, Spezia are prepared to brush off any attempts to sign Nzola during the January transfer window as they strive to retain their dynamic marksman.

Nzola has burst onto the scene in the Serie A this season with nine goals and one assist in 13 games, including his side’s initial equaliser in a 2-1 win over SSC Napoli last week, after helping the Stadio Alberto Picco natives secure promotion to the top-flight last term.

Nzola was the star attraction on Monday night when he again found the back of the net to seal a 2-1 win over UC Sampdoria, with Milan said to be scouting the game as they weigh up an offer for the 24-year-old Newcastle and West Ham striker target.

The £3.5m-rated forward initially moved to the Stadio Alberto Picco last January on loan before securing a free transfer to Vincenzo Italiano’s side in October, where his impressive efforts are said to have sparked talk over a new contract and pay rise to ward off any interest.

Newcastle could forge a formidable forward line with a successful move to sign Nzola this month, but Steve Bruce will need to urge Ashley to put pen to an important offer with the Toon owner understood to be reluctant to commit to any major outlays in January.

Nzola is proving to be a lethal marksman in the Italian top-flight with his nine goals in 13 games already this season, despite never playing a minute in the Serie A before helping to secure Spezia’s promotion.

Nzola is offering an average of 2.1 shots and 1.3 key balls a game in the Serie A while making 1.0 successful dribbles and winning 4.5 duels, per SofaScore, as he commands the opponent’s territory in a side that has won just four of their 17 league fixtures thus far.

It’s been more than two weeks since Aston Villa last played in the Premier League, and on Tuesday night, they finally return to action when they take on Manchester City’s side.

Villa were forced to field an academy side for their FA Cup third round clash against Liverpool earlier this month, but have now got the majority of their first-team squad back.

And whilst the two to three weeks off might see a little bit of rust creep into their game, it could also have the opposite effect too.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the City game, Smith revealed: “I don’t think we’ll be hamstrung by it at all. We’ll have a few players who’ve been affected by it, but we’ve also got a lot of players who’ve had a so-called winter break.

“Some of our players needed the rest, players like Jack Grealish and John McGinn who’ve been regularly away on international duty. Hopefully it’ll do them the world of good and we can come back fresh and firing.”

The likes of Grealish and McGinn in particular have been virtual ever-presents under Smith for more than a couple of years now, and the toll of having to play week-in and week-out must be huge.

Aside from the sheer physical exertions of having to play big games non-stop, the mental pressures and burden that it can put on a player is similarly seismic.

It’s exactly why this mini winter break that Villa have had could be the catalyst to ensuring they enjoy just as successful of a second-half of the campaign.

The lay-off may not bear fruit immediately against City tonight, but over the long run, Villa fans should see a team far more energised and able to keep up their intensity.
