Mohamed Elyounoussi has potentially caused irreparable damage to his Southampton future. After being substituted by loan manager Neil Lennon in Celtic’s recent match, the striker was seen using his phone on the sidelines whilst the game was still playing out.

The Hoops boss is furious over this and it’s sparked a lot of angry debate amongst former professionals. But one man who will be deeply disappointed in Elyounoussi is Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Is there a way back for Elyounoussi?

Chris Sutton has slammed the Norwegian for his “unacceptable” behaviour during the Europa League clash.

“That’s scandalous. Is he committed to the cause? Is he committed to the club? Totally unacceptable,” he said (via Daily Record). “That’s a selfish, self-centred, egotistical individual who doesn’t care about the rest of his team-mates.”

Elyounoussi’s actions have landed him in hot water with his loan club, but it’s what awaits him back on the south coast he should be worried about. Player attitude is something that Hasenhuttl holds to an extremely high regard, and news travels fast. Once the Austrian learns of his player’s controversial actions, he could completely take back everything he said about a potential St Mary’s return.

Hasenhuttl recently stated that he is monitoring Elyounoussi’s progress and admitted he could be looking at a return to first team action once his loan spell at Celtic finishes. The 26-year-old’s status with the Saints was low after failing to impress, but it’s been a different story up in Scotland.

He has contributed seven goals and four assists so far this season and could may well have been looking at challenging Che Adams upon his Southampton return. However, the £8.5million-rated ace’s recent foolish behaviour could have just undone all of his hard work this campaign and he may well have lowered Hasenhuttl’s opinion of him.

Primeiro clube a demonstrar interesse pelo zagueiro, cerca de um mês atrás, o Fluminense tratou de iniciar as negociações com o clube italiano primeiro. Manchester City were boosted by the news earlier this week that Pep Guardiola has committed to a new contract that will see him remain as manager of the Citizens until the summer of 2023.

The Spanish manager’s excellent relationship with Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is well-known and with the manager committing his future to Manchester City, perhaps it won’t be too long until the legendary winger follows suit.

City were one of several sides to be linked with the 33-year-old during the summer after he announced that it was his intention to leave Barcelona following a disastrous season that saw them miss out on the La Liga title to rivals Real Madrid, as well as the embarrassing 8-2 loss against Bayern Munich (per Goal).

However, after a dispute over his contract, the Argentinian agreed to stay with the La Liga giants, as they refused to let him leave on a free transfer, meaning his €700 million release clause remained active.

Fortunately for City, and perhaps for Messi, his contract with Blaugrana is set to expire at the end of the current season meaning he will be free to leave then and foreign clubs will also be able to approach the forward in January with the view of him agreeing a pre-contract deal.

Therefore, if Messi is still keen to leave Barcelona, you would imagine that City would be amongst the favourites to sign him, due to their vast funds, as well as his excellent relationship with Guardiola.

During the Spanish manager’s time managing the winger, he contributed an extraordinary 211 goals and 91 assists in just 219 games, so it clear that the two work well together (per Transfermarkt).

Messi praised Guardiola’s influence on Barcelona in an interview in 2011, saying:

“Barcelona would not be the same without Guardiola.” (per Goal)

The respect goes both ways, as the Spanish manager detailed exactly why Messi is a genius in an Amazon prime documentary (via Sport Bible), saying:

“He’s not out of the game. He’s involved. Moving his head. Right, left, left, right.

“He smells who is the weak point of the back four. After five, ten minutes, he has the map.

“He knows if I move here, here, I will have more space to attack. Oh, that’s genius! That is quite incredible.

“We are contemporary of that guy. So enjoy it. Lionel Messi, just simply one of a kind. He is so good.”

Clearly, the two formed a great partnership during their time at Barcelona and following the update on Guardiola’s contract earlier this week, it seems that if Messi does leave Barcelona next summer, he could well end up at the Etihad Stadium.

واستطرد: “أتدرب تحت قيادة سامي قمصان يوميًا على التصويب على المرمى، وسعيد أنني صوبت في مباراة الزمالك وسجلت”.

وواصل: “لم يكن هناك مخطط لكرة الهدف الرابع، ولكن محمد مجدي أفشة لاعب ذكي وصنع الكرة لي بهذا الشكل عندما كنت في مساحة بمفردي، ووفقت في تسديدها، توقيت الهدف أعادنا إلى الوضع الجيد في المباراة بعد تسجيل الزمالك هدفه الأول”.

واستكمل: “حاولنا تسجيل 7 أو 8 أهداف في الزمالك ولكن واجهنا فريقًا كبيرًا والأمر لم يكن سهلًا”.

وعن ما تردد بشأن احتساب هدفه الأول لمحمد أبو جبل، قال: “أعتبره هدفي أنا لأن لولا تسديدتي ما كانت دخلت المرمى”.

وكشف ديانج سبب احتفاله بطريقة كرة السلة: “هذا لأن زوجتي لاعبة كرة سلة وأنا اتفقت معها أنني كلما سجلت أهدافًا أحتفل بهذه الطريقة وأهدي الأهداف لها”.

وأتم: “لا أعرف ماذا تم بشأن مفاوضات جالطة سراي التركي لضمي، ولكن ما أعرفه هو تواجدي مع الأهلي الآن النادي الكبير نادي القرن، وأنا محظوظ بذلك لأنها فرصة صعب أن تتاح لأي لاعب أن يلعب في هذا الفريق، وأنا سعيد هنا”.

Apostar na categoria de base é, talvez, a saída mais viável para um clube que trabalha com orçamento reduzido. No caso do Botafogo é exatamente isso que acontece em 2016. Ainda atento ao mercado e com apenas seis reforços confirmados até agora, o clube trabalha com dois terços do elenco formado nas categorias de base.

Pelo menos foi assim na apresentação do grupo à torcida no último sábado. Dos 26 jogadores em campo, 15 foram revelados em General Severiano. Alguns já estão no profissional há alguns anos. Outros são iniciantes. É o caso, por exemplo, do lateral-direito Marcinho, do zagueiro Igor Rabello e do meia Leandro. Todos eles subiram neste ano e já são observados de perto pelo técnico Ricardo Gomes na primeira semana.

Camisa 10 da base e considerado uma das grandes promessas do clubes, Leandro, de 19 anos, comemorou a chegada ao time principal, mas mostrou estar com os pés no chão.

– Conversei pouco com o professor Ricardo Gomes. Ainda estamos mais nessa fase de exames e treinos físicos. Penso em dar o meu melhor. Se o Ricardo Gomes gostar… Mas acima de tudo respeitando meus companheiros, que têm mais tempo de profissão do que eu. A ideia é corresponder quando precisarem de mim. Espero contribuir – comentou.

Tanto Leandro quanto Marcinho ainda têm idade para jogar nos juniores. Poderiam, inclusive, integrar o time que disputou a Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior neste ano, mas por um pedido da comissão técnica já são observados no elenco principal. O lateral-direito comemorou o alto número de jogadores formados no clube neste início de temporada.

– O mérito de estar no profissional é esse. Ter alguém para olhar pela gente. Tem alguns exemplos de sucesso, como Gabriel, Dória, Vitinho e outros. O bom é que o clube não gasta dinheiro em contratação. Paga salário dos garotos que têm contrato, mas já cuida deles há um tempo. É colher os frutos. A diretoria está de parabéns – disse.

Apesar disso, a diretoria ainda busca reforços para deixar o elenco mais forte. Afinal de contas, muitos jogadores deixaram o clube e poucos chegaram até agora.

خاض منتخب مصر الأول، بقيادة البرتغالي كارلوس كيروش، تدريبه الأخير مساء اليوم الثلاثاء على أحد الملاعب الفرعية بستاد الجيش ببرج العرب قبل السفر إلى أنجولا.

ويحل منتخب مصر ضيفاً على أنجولا في التاسعة مساء الجمعة المقبل، ضمن الجولة الخامسة للمجموعة السادسة من التصفيات الإفريقية المؤهلة لكأس العالم.

وشارك في المران جميع اللاعبين فيما عدًا محمد صلاح نجم منتخب مصر والمحترف في صفوف ليفربول الإنجليزي، الذي أدى تدريبات فردية استشفائية.

وانتظم محمد النني لاعب وسط منتخب مصر وآرسنال الإنجليزي، في التدريبات الجماعية، وظهر الجميع بحالة جيدة.

ومن المقرر أن يغادر منتخب مصر إلى أنجولا في الواحدة ظهر غد الأربعاء، إلى لواندا عاصمة أنجولا.

يُذكر أن منتخب مصر يتصدر ترتيب المجموعة السادسة في التصفيات الإفريقية برصيد 10 نقاط، بعد الفوز في 3 مباريات والتعادل في مواجهة وحيدة كانت أمام الجابون.

The news coming from Turin will catch many pundits by surprise. Juventus are prepared to let Ronaldo go at the end of the season. Why would they want to do that when it is clear he is central to their expected success? If true, the unconfirmed rumours could see one of the costliest transfers and perhaps make Ronaldo the oldest highest paid athlete.

Is there some truth to these rumours? Football pundits say it’s a classic case of making hay while the sun shines. Ronaldo is still a prolific goal machine even as he turns 36 next year.  Juventus could be looking to sell him while they can still make some money out of him.

Why is Ronaldo Leaving?

The big question still is, why would Juventus let their star scorer go? The grapevine has it that Andrew Pirlo thinks Ronaldo is a bit selfish and too much of an attention seeker. While it is true that Ronaldo has been consistently delivering the goals, his magic may not rub off on the rest of the team.

Juventus were beaten 2-0 by Barcelona in UEFA Champions League group stages. The team is wallowing at fifth in the Serie A table. The Bianconeri have to rediscover their magic fast if the season is to go their way.

The Torinese had spent an eye-watering €100 million to buy the star striker from Real Madrid in 2018. There were high hopes that he would help them lift the elusive UEFA Champions trophy. But Juventus is yet to lift the trophy. Maybe the club feels that this  investment has not had the expected returns.

Ronaldo’s salary is another pain point for the club. He signed up for a £28million (€31 million) a year. It is twice higher than the next most paid player, Matthijs de Ligt. The club would be happy to see this hefty bill off their books. There is a feeling that there are younger and upcoming strikers who will cost less and deliver just as well, with a bit of nurturing.

There is a very real financial incentive for Juventus to sell Ronaldo before his contract ends in 2022. The terms of the contract were that he walks free after the contract. Juventus could be trying to pre-empt this loss by selling him before the contract ends.

Where Would he go?

Which club will be willing to pay top dollar for a striker at the tail end of his career? There are few takers for a 36-year old striker, but this is no ordinary striker. Ronaldo has crunched up very impressive stats in his career. Ronaldo was instrumental in his club taking Serie A last season.  His international role has also been stellar, with 101 goals for Portugal. This is the combined tally for Thierry Henry and Robin Van Persie, the second and third placed top European scorers.

His total score was 31 goals for Juventus in the last season. This has made him one of the only two players to ever  net more than 30 goals in five different European leagues. He has scored 130 goals in UEFA Champion games. With five Ballon d’or awards, he has earned his place among the world’s best footballers of all time.

Potential Suitors

PSG has been rumoured to be interested in signing him up. For one, the French club has deep pockets that will be required for such a transfer. PSG sports director, Leonardo Araújo, is reported to have said that PSG still can pull off such a transfer. He opined that PSG would be ready to ‘enter the circle’ if Ronaldo becomes available.

Manchester City is also mentioned in the same breath. It is no secret that the Emirati owned club has bottomless pockets and is not afraid to spend. It is also true that this season is not going very well for the Citizens. They need someone to replace the injury-prone Sergio Aguero.

Man City was looking to move on Messi when the Barcelona striker announced his unexpected exit at the season’s end. But rumour has it that they think Ronaldo is a better bargain. For City, it would also be another chance to upstage their bitter rivals, Manchester United. Ronaldo was once United’s blue-eyed boy, and it would be immensely cathartic to field him in Old Trafford.

So is Ronaldo on the move again? Only time will tell.
