وتحدث كلوب عن أسباب التغييرات في تشكيل ليفربول، خاصة مع غياب ترينت ألكسندر أرنولد، في تصريحات نقلها الموقع الرسمي لناديه وقال: “مجرد عملية مداورة”.

وتابع: “كنا نخطط بالفعل لمشاركة كوناتي بجانب فان دايك في الدفاع، وكذلك الدفع بتسيميكاس في الظهير الأيسر لأنه قدم مستوى رائع في بداية الموسم، ولعب روبرتسون الكثير من المباريات”.

وأضاف: “لكن بصراحة، غياب أرنولد هو ما كان مفاجئًا ولم نرتب له، استيقظ ترينت هذا الصبح وشعر بتوعك وكان علينا إعادته للمنزل، كل شيء على ما يرام، فهو غير مُصاب بفيروس كورونا بعد خضوعه لبعض الاختبارات”.

وواصل تصريحاته: “كنا بحاجة إلى بعض التغييرات في تلك المباراة مع ثبات بعض اللاعبين خاصة في خط الوسط مع فابينيو وهندرسون، وعاد ساديو ماني فقط وهو أمر منطقي (بعد غيابه أمام ميلان)”.

وأتم: “الفريق في حالة جيدة ونحتاج إلى طاقات جديدة في مباراة اليوم، لأن كريستال بالاس فريق قوي جسديًا ومنظم، علينا أن نتفوق عليهم فنيًا وندافع بكل ما لدينا، خاصة مع هجماتهم المضادة على مرمانا”.

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti can instantly improve his midfield this summer by splashing the cash on Hirving Lozano.

The door may well have opened to sign him too with fresh reports hinting that the Mexican winger is free to leave Napoli at the end of the season.

According to the Daily Star, via the ECHO, Ancelotti’s former club are honing in on the transfer of Lille forward Victor Osimhen, which means Lozano’s place is sure to fall further down the pecking order.

Coincidentally, the 24-year-old is a player that both the Italian chief and the Toffees’ director of football know all too well.

Marcel Brands was at PSV when Lozano broke through to stardom and he’s waxed lyrical about his talents in the past, going as far as likening him to Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.

“When you look at his playing style, without wanting to compare, you know, Lozano has what Messi also has – a centre of gravity low to the ground, the ball is usually quickly under control, very explosive and agile. Then your opponents automatically force mistakes.”

Whilst Ancelotti brought him to Napoli last summer for a club-record fee of $46.5m (£36.6m).

The enigmatic winger has struggled for game time in Italy thus far, but his electric from for the Dutch outfit simply cannot be ignored – in his final campaign, he provided 21 goals and 12 assists, via Transfermarkt. No wonder Ancelotti was hot on his heels.

At Goodison Park, Everton’s wide players have underperformed substantially this campaign, none more so than Alex Iwobi. The £34m signing has only managed to score one goal all season.

Even Lozano has managed a better contribution despite playing fewer minutes.

Per WhoScored, the Mexican international has delivered five goals and one assist from just 14 starts whilst also averaging 1.4 shots, 0.9 dribbles and 0.8 key passes per game.

At PSV, these figures were far greater, managing three shots, 2.2 dribbles and 2.1 key passes each match, also via WhoScored.

He would arguably improve Ancelotti’s side tenfold – even if Napoli are asking for around €50m (£45m) for his services, Brands should absolutely break the bank for him.

Gilvan de Pinho Tavares, do Cruzeiro, foi eleito o presidente da nova liga, que conta com 13 participantes: Flamengo, Fluminense, Internacional, Grêmio, Coritiba, Atlético-PR, Cruzeiro, Atlético-MG, Avaí, Figueirense, Criciúma, Chapecoense e Joinville. Paraná e América-MG estão a um passo de entrarem no bloco, mas como não participaram dos encontros, ficarão para um segundo momento.

-Entendemos que há necessidade de se trabalhar nesse sentido. A liga já existiu no passado e deu certo. Agora ela está sendo reinventada. Existem torneios no Brasil nesse modelo e são vitoriosos, como a Copa do Nordeste. Os clubes precisam trabalhar no mesmo sentido que os clubes europeus, disputar torneios dessa importância que vai trazer mais arrecadação, oportunidade de jogos rentáveis – disse Gilvan.

Burnley are reportedly keen on signing Joe Worrall from Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window.

Journalist Alan Nixon tweeted (via @reluctantnicko) that the Clarets would make a move for the centre-back if they can table a high enough offer to lure him from the City Ground, with Sheffield United also keen on the 23-year-old.

According to Lancashire Live, the Midlands outfit could realistically demand at least £10m for the defender, given that they value another Burnley target in Matty Cash in the region of £12m-£15m.

Worrall was an integral part of the Nottingham Forest side that just missed out on the Championship play-offs, featuring in every single minute of their league campaign under Sabri Lamouchi and providing a goal and four assists from centre-back (as per TransferMarkt).

The 23-year-old is generally composed in possession, with a passing success rate of 80.9%, while match averages of 3.2 successful headers and 5.2 clearances show that he is also capable of carrying out essential defensive duties with regularity.

Burnley are in the market for a centre-back in the current transfer window, given that they currently have just four senior players in that position – one of whom is Ben Gibson, who has essentially been exiled from the club and, according to Nixon, could be loaned out to Middlesbrough or Norwich.

Worrall’s match averages for headers, tackles and interceptions are noticeably lower than the figures posted by the Clarets’ two main centre-backs James Tarkowski (5.2 headers, 1.7 tackles and 1.7 interceptions per game) and Ben Mee (4.1 headers, 1.3 tackles and 1.3 interceptions per game).

However, the Nottingham Forest defender is far more economical with his use of the ball, his passing success rate substantially higher than those of Tarkowski and Mee, with 70.8% and 71.4% respectively. Indeed, Josh Brownhill (82.5%) was the only Burnley player to record a higher passing accuracy rate than Worrall during the 2019/20 season. [via WhoScored]

When looking at Worrall’s statistics in comparison to Mee and Tarkowski, there may be a temptation to think that he might not be a great fit for Burnley.

However, his vastly superior passing success rate indicates that he could offer the Clarets a different skill set defensively and a useful alternative to their conventional game-plan if Sean Dyche feels the need to mix things up.

Therefore, the Nottingham Forest man could offer Burnley a different dimension and they should put a concerted effort into their attempts to lure him from the City Ground.

According to Football Insider, the Scottish champions have had a £3m bid rejected for Peterborough United talisman Ivan Toney, which involves an initial £2.5m.

It’s claimed that the League One outfit are wanting between £9-10m to let their prized asset depart.

Other teams are hot on the chase of the 24-year-old including Brentford, West Brom and AFC Bournemouth.

Meanwhile, Celtic are resigned to the fact that Edouard is unlikely to sign a new contract, meaning they have to decide whether to sell him this window or next summer – when he’ll be approaching the final 12 months of his current deal.

Long-term successor

It is time for Nick Hammond to pull his finger out and pay what Posh are asking. It’s not much more than what they paid for the Frenchman following the departure of Moussa Dembele to Lyon back in 2018.

He believes Toney “would be a revelation for Celtic” and that he’d not only “score 30 to 40 goals up there” but would earn them £40-50m in resale value too.

Edouard’s time at Parkhead isn’t going to be forever, which is why it would be wise to find heir sooner rather than later, thus paying up for the former Newcastle graduate makes the world of sense.
